Shaving Face

The Perfect Shave

Follow these simple steps every time, to ensure your shave routine becomes more of a skin-friendly experience:
  • In the shower, or at the sink, wash your face in warm water with a Face Wash to open your pores and soften your beard.
  • Rub a few drops of Shave Oil onto the warm, wet face to keep the hairs upright, for a closer shave. Wait a few seconds and wet the face again.
  • In a circular motion, massage a small amount of Shave Cream onto your face with a Shave Brush or wet fingertips.
  • Shave with the grain, rinsing the Razor blade frequently in warm water. Use short strokes starting with the side burns, check and neck. Finish with the chin and upper lip, as the hair is thicker here.
  • Rinse your face with cool water, and use a Toner to close the pores and refresh your face. Use a clean towel to pat, not rub, your face dry.
  • Apply a post-shave Balm to any irritated areas and use an Alum Block to deal with any cuts. Finish off with a suitable Moisturiser to hydrate and protect the skin.

A wet shave is the best way to get a close shave. However if you prefer to use an electric razor, try prepping your skin with a suitable pre-shave lotion

The Quest for Better Shaving

The perfect shaving is an endless quest for men. It’s like the holy grail of daily care. Companies with their products want to make us believe that is just as easy as using the perfect razor, or the perfect gel; but the truth is that to shave, one must look at the big picture. It’s about everything! So, here are some things to take in consideration in your quest:

  • The right shaving cream - Soap just doesn’t make it anymore. There are a whole lot of creams out there depending on the type of skin you have. So first I would say “get to know your skin and buy accordingly”.
  • Use a quality razor - Cheap razors are ok and all at first, but they wear out very quickly without you noticing it until it’s too late. I find the better razors to be the ones with triple blade.
  • Shave with the direction of the skin - Many people got the information the other way. That may seem as the logical step to take, but it can actually damage your skin in the long term.
  • Warmer is better - The pores open up with warm water. The best time to shave is after taking a hot bath. You will feel the difference, because the hair comes off much softer, and you are less prone to cut yourself.
  • Use only after shave - This will help closing the pores. It’s the final step. Please, don’t use cologne or deodorant, they irritate the skin and can ruin an otherwise great morning shave.
  • Don’t ever give up, the quest may be endless, but the spirit is not. Hope these simple tips help you some more, and in special young readers that also want to know how to shave! Follow these and we guarantee 50% less cuts
